| APG10
is a high-end local cabinetry and millwork operation
serving NYC and the surrounding region. All of its products
are fabricated and finished in its Hudson Valley, NY
facility, and with no showrooms or distributorships,
considerable savings are available to both design professionals
and homeowners.
APG10
works in both traditional and modern styles, incorporating
exotic veneers, FSC lumber, stone, glass, and architectural
metals, and has accomplished extremely complex projects,
including a recent 10,000 sq ft Manhattan penthouse.
The
people at APG10 hold themselves to exacting standards
when it comes to service, maintaining effective and
timely communication with the professionals associated
with every job, keeping careful records of all information,
and bringing projects to 100% completion on time and
to spec. To enhance this capacity it has developed its
own brand of electronic documentation including CAD
shop drawings, 3-D renderings and a virtual filing system
which allows clients to visualize, organize, and track
the status of a job from start to finish. With a uniform
platform in place to communicate about projects nothing
gets missed as every collaborator is on the same page.
Another
defining feature of APG10's work is its dedication to
providing clients with healthy, environmentally-friendly
products, using only No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF)
plywood and low-VOC waterborne finishes. The company's
president, Orin Zelenak, explains: “What makes
us different is that our products are ultimately safer
for the client because of the higher quality materials
we use. Unfortunately, many people in this industry
have been slow at best, and often resistant to making
the change to 'greener' products. This is especially
true of finishing. Many
woodworkers are wary of waterborne finishes, but this
is because they are harder to apply, not because they
are inferior finishes. We have made a huge commitment
to researching and developing a custom finishing system
based on the use of low-VOC, waterborne lacquers. The
result is that we now incorporate a line of coatings
which exceed the industry-wide standards established
by the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association. Indoor
air quality is also a health concern, and it just doesn't
make sense to build a beautiful library or kitchen and
have the finishes leaching formaldehyde and other noxious
chemicals into the air."
To
APG10, phrases like "eco-friendly", "low-emissions
coatings", "healthy cabinets", and the
like aren't just boilerplate, but a call to innovate.
Its plan is to keep pushing the envelope of the overall
quality of its products, which are beautiful, functional,
and safe. |
