Christopher Peacock debuts ‘Refectory’ Collection as featured in the August Issue of HOUSE BEAUTIFUL.

Christopher Peacock is to release his new kitchen collection this month. Named Refectory, it includes new cabinetry, moldings, hardware, wall and ceiling color as well as a range of faucet, countertop and backsplash recommendations for kitchens. The new line will be available in the Peacock showrooms across the country.

“I call it ‘fresh traditional’,” said Mr. Peacock. First shown as a kitchen in New York City at The Kips Bay Decorator Show House in May to overwhelming approval, Mr. Peacock has offered the collection to several private clients to their giddy delight. “The response, by all indications, has been phenomenal. Every cabinet and molding profile, every piece of hardware and interior cabinet design is original. Literally, everything was on paper only 12 weeks ago,” said Peacock.

Refectory is a modern interpretation inspired by monastic dinning rooms, prep school dining halls, and Ivy League and English University eating quarters. The furniture in the Refectory collection has inset doors with a simple stepped profile. The Collection features signature pieces inspired by antique English icebox designs using hand selected quartered white oak.

The hardware in the Collection has been designed by Mr. Peacock and finished in polished nickel. Specifically, the chunky icebox roller latches and strap hinges are a modern interpretation of a classic. “The hardware in the refectory collection had to be beautiful as well adhere to this notion of scale that is inherent in it. I think of the hardware as cabinet jewelry and, as such, the character of the room is often defined by the choices made. It is important that it function well within a hectic modern family,” said Peacock.
