As you ascend the grand circular drive at Merrywood, you are rewarded with a stunning view of the front entrance to this 20,000 square foot house made of stone. The clusters of trees on your left, manicured lawn and grouping of rocks to your right offer just a hint of the meticulous landscaping that awaits you at this sprawling estate.

While the inside and surrounding land of this Designer Show House highlight the work of 30 interior designers and landscape architects, the house itself is a work of art. This combination of stately Georgian and regal Tuscan architecture greets you as you pass under the elegant portico at the main entrance. Be prepared to be impressed, as “Merrywood” promises to take the phrase “Designer Show House” to a whole new level…

This back side view of the house shows yet another dimension: a matching back portico that leads to the main foyer and a set of stairs that leads to the expansive terrace. You can also see the entrance to the garage area, which is hidden under the terrace but still easily accessible.

Of course, “Summer Days at Merrywood” emphasizes the importance of leisure and relaxation. Explore the luxury of the spa and a gracious pool as you wander around the three-acre estate. Admire the quality stonework that complements the house: walls frame the property, while rings of masonry line gardens and the whirlpool.

The double balustrade stairway provides two curving paths down to the extensive acreage and gardens. The swimming pool stretches out before the house, accented by several pillars to the right. The two stone pillars marking the entrance to the pool area add intrigue to the beautifully landscaped back lawn.

The house’s interior won’t be the only feast for the eyes. Show House organizer Franco Grimaldi promises that the enormous Grand Veranda will be transformed into a “summer ballroom”. Exterior draperies will grace the columns, creating a space that capitalizes on warm breezes and sunshine or moonlight to create the ultimate space for entertaining.

This scene from the top of the double balustrade staircase offers a commanding view of the rear of the property. The Grand Veranda is to your right and behind you as you wander down the stairs to take a closer look at the lush offerings in the gardens.

Studio and Carriage House View: (Archived)

Currently being used as headquarters for the Show House and production of “The Room of Choice”, the studio and carriage house sit at the edge of the property, fringed by leafy trees. While the original house at Merrywood burned down and the current stone house took its place, the former carriage house still stands to the right, while a studio built at a later date is to the left. Visitors can view the exterior of the studio and carriage house while strolling through the property.

The carriage house has been renovated into a three-bedroom, three-bathroom residence that is currently being used as headquarters for the Show House and production of “The Room of Choice”. Visitors can view the exterior of carriage house while strolling through the property.

Studio View: (Archived)

The Studio offers a smaller, more intimate space than the house itself. This cozy getaway is accented by wood trim and plenty of windows, while stone steps and bushes help set the scene for an artistic retreat. Visitors can view the exterior of studio while strolling through the property.

See all of the elements that create the perfect estate for more than just a backyard barbecue: a pool for lounging by or swimming laps and an extensive terrace designed to hold plenty of guests. Well-manicured trees and shrubs create an enclosure that helps you forget about hectic daily life outside of Merrywood. In addition to the lush landscaping, running waterfalls will also enhance the serene atmosphere at this elegant estate.
