| The
Kennebec Company has been designing and building cabinetry
for over 35 years. They specialize in period-inspired
designs and cabinetry, styles and details that celebrate
the best in the evolution of architecture in America.
Every
project, whether cabinetry for a kitchen, library, bath,
or other room, is designed to be in keeping with the
home while incorporating the homeowners personal preferences
into the highest standards of design and contemporary
efficiency. They have several period-inspired styles
and a staff of designers who understand the interpretative
elements that go into a classic design, a design that
will never go out of style.
The
Kennebec Company is also known for building the finest
cabinetry available. Exquisitely crafted and finished
by hand, every cabinet is a celebration of the artistry
of cabinetmaking. While the cabinet exteriors are specially
crafted for beauty, the interiors are outfitted to support
today’s most demanding efficiency requirements;
drawers that slide with ease and accessories that afford
full utilization of the cabinetry interiors.
Their
dedication to design and cabinetmaking as an art form
has made them leaders in their field. Russ Morash, the
executive producer of the television program This Old
House discovered their work in the mid 1980s and invited
them to design and build period appropriate kitchen
cabinetry for an early 1800s home, The Weatherbee Farm.
The introduction of their “Furniture Look”
design in hand planned pine cabinetry became an instant
hit, so popular that they were asked to provide cabinetry
for several more projects. The greatest compliment came
when master cabinetmaker Norm Abrams of New Yankee Workshop
asked them to design and build cabinetry for his new
home. Years later This Old House Magazine conducted
a national survey of cabinet companies and named Kennebec
“America’s Best Cabinetmaker”. Their
work continues to be featured in magazines, books, newspapers,
and nationally televised programs.
The Kennebec Company is located in Bath Maine. Their
offices and showroom are housed in the historic Old
Customs House on the Kennebec River. Their workshop
is also open for tours Monday thru Friday 9AM to 3PM.
Their web site shows great examples of their work and
testimonials from those they have served. They also
offer on site consulting for people contemplating changes
to an existing home. Their web site has a full explanation
of all their services.
