New Exhibits: Silvermine Guild Arts Center

EVENT: Ann Hodgdon-Cyr - "Refuge" "At one time or another in life, we each must seek a place of shelter of peace. Whether it is a physical place of comfort or a mental escape, we need to find our refuge." Using the camera as her paint brush this exhibit reflects the artists' concept of refuge where the images speak to her mind and heart representing the human condition.

EVENT: Elizabeth Back - "Visceral Structures" An exploration of growth and decomposition, the body of works in this exhibit incorporates two- and three-dimensional mixed media. The exhibit itself is a contradiction transforming the space into an investigation of the subtlety of simple life forms and the rich worlds that lie beyond the range of human vision.

EVENT: Gail Lee - "Back to a Place I Never Left" An exhibit of abstract works in a variety of media which expresses the artist's emotions and feelings; with the more literal pieces dealing with specific times and places. It is about memories, abandonment and the passage of time.

EVENT: Michael Manning - "Everyday Hero" An exhibit of new paintings focusing on the archetypal hero figure. With the traditional hero patterns as a background, the traditional deeds and adventures of the hero are substituted with events found in everyday life from the artists' point of view. The end results are narrative paintings that use allegorical images to show every day events as equivalent to the actions of a classic mythological hero.

Exhibition: Reframing American Art: The Roy R. Neuberger Collection

The works of art included in this exhibition are selections from Roy R. Neuberger’s (American, born 1903) generous gift to Purchase College, State University of New York, which helped to establish the Neuberger Museum of Art.
