“The
inspiration for Concertino®
came from
my diverse involvement in the acoustic design of both major performance
spaces and luxury homes. While working with private individuals
on the acoustics of other rooms throughout their homes, I started
to see a trend where many of my clients either were musicians themselves,
hired performers for parties and other special events and/or their
children were learning to play instruments. As they became aware
of what I was also doing in the world of concert hall design, many
of them would tell me how they longed for a way to create a much
better sounding acoustic environment to practice, perform and record
live music within their homes (since the average living room isn’t
very conducive to most live music).
My
response to all of this was the development of a technology named
Concertino®
and
a system built around that technology that electronically replicates
what a real performance hall does to enhance the sound of an instrument,
a voice, the audience clapping and more.
For
the first time ever— we can transform the overall
sound of one’s private living environment to create the acoustic
signatures of any space imaginable – from a small nightclub
to a majestic cathedral. I then spent considerable effort coming
up with ways to integrate the components of this system into the
architectural surfaces of high-end residential spaces so that the
technology is nearly or totally invisible. What we have done is
to use cutting-edge electronic processing to create a very natural
pure sound and appearance (since all the traditional monitor speakers,
microphones and cables that would be draped around a band aren’t
necessary). The emphasis is solely on the musical experience and
the way that great acoustics combined with great performers in an
intimate setting can completely engage an audience.
We started the
Jazz & Champagne events
in our Manhattan concert studio to showcase
the Concertino®
experience by setting the intimate mood with a small audience, champagne
and hors d’ouevres and allow attendees to relax and enjoy
a concert with a jazz quartet that truly knows how to play in an
acoustic space and connect with the audience.
Throughout the
events, I provide some brief background on how Concertino®
was developed,
the ways it can be employed in private environments and then even
let the audience take the controls to hear the difference between
our natural studio and our simulated recreated acoustic spaces.
We have been thrilled at the overwhelmingly positive responses and
look forward to continuing to expose Concertino®
to diverse
audiences.”
Hope to see
you at our Upcoming Fall
Events.
