Suzanne Novik chose to design her space as a dressing room, since there was a large built-in armoire, in addition to an adjoining walk-in closet. Her design inspiration was her mother’s vintage hats, suits, pocketbooks, lingerie, stockings and handkerchiefs. Black and white photos of movie stars from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s set the mood amidst a palate of blush tones.

Novik custom designed this vanity using medium mercury mirror to replicate an authentic antique. The center drawer is flanked by two pivoting drawers to house makeup and necessities. A Chinese style vanity mirror adds elegance to the surrounding accessories.
The corner is adorned with a reproduction of an antique mirrored semainaire. A sumptuous velvet ottoman completes this space holding an antique silver tray with stockings and garters along with a full body silk slip, to simulate the woman of the house in preparation for an evening out.
The overall room draws one into this luxurious space with it’s palette of blush tones and sumptuous textures. The tray ceiling upholstered in a light pink/gold lamé acts as a reflector with an antique Steuben glass fixture suspended below. The ceiling is further enhanced with a wallpaper, patterned with gold stars against a pale pink background. The window treatment mimics a theatre drape behind a custom designed mirrored dressing table. An antique banquette with luxurious pillows completes the glamorous setting.
A vintage collection of hats, which frame the TV in the center, appropriately accessorize these open shelves which are designed for storage. The antique Italian mirrored chair brings a splash of sparkle to this corner.
To further maintain the theme of the room, Suzanne Novik displayed vintage suits, slips, pocketbooks, hat boxes and shoes in the custom designed walk-in closet. Kept in mint condition, they truly bring one back in time.
